Commercial Natural Gas Boilers

Efficient natural gas boilers offer many water heating and space heating options for commercial customers.

Energy savings, improved performance and increased efficiency levels have become key purchase criteria and differentiating factors in the institutional and commercial boiler markets. Today’s boiler manufacturers are paying close attention to conserving fuel and being more environmentally conscious.

Today’s state-of-the art natural gas fired boilers offer enhanced controls, variable firing rates and lower emissions when compared to previous models.  Many innovative designs are available today to meet the needs of commercial customers from small packaged units to direct contact systems.

Natural gas … fueling today’s thermal needs

Packaged watertube boilers are available in packed configurations to accommodate smaller commercial buildings or large industrial complexes.  Units can be ordered for low pressure steam or hot water applications.  A watertube boiler’s quick-steaming ability makes it particularly suitable for variable loads due to its low residual water content design.  This allows the boiler to be turned off during downtime on weekends or in situations where the demand varies widely.

Sectional boilers are ideal for retrofit applications and are easily assembled on site.

Cast iron sectional boilers – often called sectional boilers are made up of a number of cast iron sections.  These units are ideal for retrofit applications as they can be assembled “on site.”   Small in size and readily available, there are many vendors and service technicians to assist with sales and service after the sale for this type of boiler.  Multiple boilers can be ganged together for increased loads and act in a modular fashion that improves operating efficiencies.

Fin tube boilers offer numerous installation options due to their compact design.

Fin tube boilers circulate water through a pipe that is fitted with many fins to assist in transferring the heat to the water stream.   This design increases heat transfer surface in the boiler making for a compact design with high energy efficiency.  These boilers are typically suited for space heating or potable water applications.

Pulse boilers are up to 98% efficient.  This condensing boiler offers direct venting with a sealed combustion system.  Pulse boilers offer greater flexibility as there are no minimum return water temperatures, no minimum or maximum flow requirements.  No primary/secondary distribution loop is required which saves money in pumping and maintenance costs.   System standby losses are nearly zero, and the unit’s small footprint allows installation in multiple buildings or in isolated areas of large plants.

Direct contact boilers are energy efficient, offer low emissions and provide “on demand” hot water.

Direct contact boilers operate with water flowing downward through a vertical column filled with stainless steel packing rings.  Cold water comes into direct contact with rising hot combustion air from a gas burner.  The heated water accumulates in a lower storage tank.  Offering efficiencies up to 99%, these systems provide low stack emissions, “on demand" hot water and low NOx emissions.  Typical applications for this technology are commercial laundries, food processors or large volume potable hot water needs.

Single boilers can often be replaced with multiple smaller units operating with a variable burner. In multiple boiler configurations, single boilers can be sequenced to meet load requirements providing increased efficiency.

With today’s buildings operating at overall higher efficiencies, small changes in building design, equipment efficiency and/or boiler sizing can impact your business.  Contact us or call 1-800-292-4010 today to see how matching your equipment and boiler loads can have a positive economic impact on your business.
