Alagasco is committed to helping you manage your energy costs. We offer a variety of payment methods, assistance programs and special services to assist you in tough economic times.

Programs offered:

Help manage your monthly bill payments.

  • Average Monthly Billing- Spread your gas costs out throughout the year.
  • Payment Arrangements- Arrange payment terms that are satisfactory to both you and the company if you're having difficulty paying your gas bill.

Are designed to supplement payments of elderly, disabled or low-income customers who would otherwise be unable to pay the total amount of their bill.

  • LIHEAP- The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, is a federal program that provides financial assistance to help low-income individuals pay their energy bills. In Alabama, LIHEAP is administered by several community resource agencies and is sponsored by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. Contact a community resource agency in your area to apply for LIHEAP assistance or to learn more about the program.
  • Customer Charge Waiver- Customers who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) will not be billed a monthly customer charge if eligibility requirements are met. Call 1-800-292-4008 and a representative will give you instructions on how to apply for this program.
  • Project SHARE- Project SHARE (Service to Help Alabamians with Relief on Energy), is a program administered by the American Red Cross and funded by utility customers’ monthly donations. Project SHARE is available to customers who are age 62 or older on low, fixed incomes with no other source of funds and to those with disabilities who, for health reasons, cannot keep up a normal family income. If you qualify for Project SHARE, you can receive assistance one time during the winter and one additional time during the summer if severely high temperatures cause a health threat. Contact the American Red Cross office in your county to apply for assistance.
  • Third-Party Notifications- You may designate a person or an agency for us to contact on behalf of an account holder before disconnecting service for non-payment. Contact us by email or call 1-800-292-4008 to speak with an Alagasco representative to name the person or agency for third party notification.
  • Safety and Efficiency Inspections- Alagasco customers who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) can get the gas heating equipment in their homes inspected free of charge. Contact us by email or call 1-800-292-4008 to schedule a free inspection.
      • Free inspections are available June 1-August 31.
      • Alagasco’s service personnel will make any necessary repairs.
      • Labor is free if the work is done within one hour.
      • The cost of parts may be charged to a customer’s bill.
  • Services for Hearing Impaired- The Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD) gives speech and hearing impaired customers the ability to communicate with us around the clock. Call toll free 1-800-548-2547 from anywhere in Alabama to contact us through this device.
  • Services for Visually Impaired- We offer large-print bills and Braille bills upon request for our customers who are visually impaired.
